The wind ruffles a flower’s petals,
A woosh flows through the meadow.
Full of kin of the kin of the pioneer,
Who first drifted along the breeze to find this very field of grass,
Brimming with opportunity.
But for what purpose
Did the flower need to come here?
Driven by the instinct to spread her seeds,
Growing her family tree?
Or was it for the bees?
Whose fuzzy feet tickle the many stems of anther,
Pollen clinging for dear life,
During the long trip home to the hive?

When they morphed from something ancient, some sort of dinosaur ancestor that was just different enough to not make the cut.
From some sort of two legged, ground-dwelling beast full of razor sharp teeth and a lust for flesh.
Talons scraping against Earth’s budding rock as it sprints after it’s prey, cawing to it’s fellows in some unimaginable timbre we can only try to recreate.
